Team Essentia will walk 50km with Dimbleby Cancer Care and raise vital funds to help make life better for people living with cancer.

Steve McGuire, CEO; Alexandra Hammond, Associate Director of Sustainability; Gwyneth Weller, Employee Engagement Manager; xxxxxxx xxxxxx will walk the 50km route through Central London through the night on 10 June. The walk starts at St Thomas’ Hospital on the banks of the River Thames, and ends back at Guy’s Hospital where the charity runs its information and support services.

Now in its second year, the event raised over £96,000 in 2015 when 100 people joined Jonathan Dimbleby at the event. Walking in groups of 20-25, people will be guided along the route by a Group Leader with the full back up of an expert Support Team, with plenty of ‘pit stops’ along the way.

Dimbleby Cancer Care was established in 1966 following the death of Broadcaster Richard Dimbleby of testicular cancer the year before. For 50 years the charity has been at the forefront of pioneering cancer care, notably through it’s Information and Support Servces at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital which provide practical and emotional support to people living with cancer, their families and carers, and through it’s unique research fund which funds national projects into the care and support needs of those affected by cancer.

In 2014 the charity launched a 2 year £500,000 Care For The Future fundraising appeal to co-incide with the opening of the new Guy’s Cancer Centre in the autumn of 2016.

The charity relies solely on public donations, fundraising and legacies to continue its work. To donate and support Team Essentia, please click here
